Bye, Bye, Ole!

With the imminent announcement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's retirement from football, Danez Carven pays tribute to a glorious career with five of the baby-faced assassin's best moments.

1. Unsurprisingly, top of the list is the moment when Solsjkaer entered into United folklore with an out struck right boot on a barmy night in Barcelona back in 1999. On as a substitute, and with Teddy Sheringham already having put United back on level terms in injury time, Solskjaer stepped up to turn in his strike partner's flick on and win the Champions League for United.

2. Solskjaer's reputation as a super-sub was unrivalled but nobody quite expected what happened at the City Ground earlier in the same season. The Norwegian came off the bench to net an incredible four times in just ten minutes to complete an 8-1 rout of Nottingham Forest, proving his credentials as one of the most lethal finishers in the game.

3. How many players have scored four goals in a game more than once in their careers? Not many, is the simple answer. But Solksjaer repeated his incredible feat of 1999 a year later, notching another four against Everton at Old Trafford in a 5-1 win. Outstanding.

4. Not a single moment as such, but Solskjaer's unwavering sense of loyalty to United throughout his career should be saluted. At the peak of his powers, Solskjaer had received attractive offers from a number of other clubs where he was promised more regular football, but every time he was linked with a move Solskjaer insisted he was happy at Old Trafford, even if he found himself on the bench more often than not. He simply got his head down and carried on playing when he got the chance. A rarity in the modern game - a true professional.

5. If the 34-year-old had not already won the hearts of United fans by 2005, his decision to speak out against the impending takeover of their club by the Glazer family sealed the deal. That the takeover has largely been a success (ticket price hikes aside) is irrelevant, it was Solskjaer's willingness to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with normal fans that endeared him so much to the public. He became the patron of Shareholders United and was even reported to have said he would turn out for anti-Glazer off-shoot club FC United. What a hero.

Goodbye, My hero!

Drift to World's End

Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motor sport involving the use of the technique. A car is said to be drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling these factors.

Although drifting started out in 1970s, most of the peoples' first exposure to the sport of drifting was by the influence of Initial-D, a manga series of Shuichi Shigeno. The success in manga series cause the rise of animes, games and movies that related to drift. And the heat of drifting has spread around the world. You don't believe it? Let's see.

DRIFT - The Movie by Japanese.

Founder come first.

Initial-D - The Movie by Hong Kies.

And the Chinese come in second. However, most of the actors (besides of those main characters) and staffs are Japanese and all the drifting scenes were taking place at Mt. Akina, Japan. It's a fifty percents' Japanese product. I suppose.

FTF - Tokyo Drift by American.

Caucasian was then copy the success. This is more or less the same as above. Or even worse. An uncreative boring success story of an American, in Japan. So, I suppose it's an eighty percents of Japanese product.

Impak Maksima by Malaysian.

Last but not least, the Malays! It's a movie with the stamp of "Made in Malaysia" where you can saw the road of Kuala Lumpur, the building of Petronas Twin Towers, and even the drift car of Proton. So, it's an ninety-nine percents of Malaysian product. The angel of my heart was telling me to feel proud about it. But then, I just can't stop laughing when I saw Proton's car drift, don't ya?

Dear Readers,

We hope that you can spare some of your time reading this article. It would mean a lot to one of our good friends in the blogosphere, if you can help her in this.

Our good friend named Sandy is currently searching for a person whom she had always regarded as her best friend. They were very close to each other, until a conflict between them arose. Ever since then, both of them lost touch of each other.

It has been nine long years since they last communicated with each other, and Sandy is deeply affected by her best friend’s absence. Her greatest wish right now is to reunite with her best friend and be close to her like before.

SANDY G

Her best friend’s name is Judy Sanford and is staying with her husband named Mike. According to Sandy, she was last found to be staying in California. Whether she is still staying in California or not is still a question mark. But you could be the person to answer the question!

If you happened to know Judy and her whereabouts, kindly inform us or inform Sandy directly via her blog. Even if you have never heard of Judy, you can still do your part by spreading this heartfelt message via your blogs.

Your immediate response to this message is greatly appreciated. What we are doing may be something small, but if all of us can put our hands together and be part of the search, it can bring two best friends together again after nine long years.

Sandy, please be strong in going through this obstacle in your life. Have great faith that miracles can happen, always look on the bright side of life, and believe that your long awaited wish could come true. We are here for you and will do our best to help you.

Judy, if you are reading this, please contact Sandy as soon as possible. She really misses you and wants to make up for the lost times. Let bygones be bygones. Hope that you will reciprocate Sandy’s feelings as soon as you can.

Love It? Hate It?

Like vodka, this Swede comes to party. Playful. Young. Emotional. Not adjectives normally associated with a Volvo. Safe? Conservative? Now those fit the bill. After all, for the past 80 years Volvo has fortified an iron standing of producing cars that are as secure as bank vaults. After eight decades of playing it safe, though, Volvo is ready to let loose.

Say hello to the all-new C30 hatchback, the wild child of the Volvo family. Due out next summer, the C30 is a far cry from the typical Volvo. According to chief designer Simon Lamarre, "The C30 isn't for people with kids. It's a different kind of a Volvo for a different kind of customer." In other words, the C30 isn't meant to be an A-to-B appliance for the Smiths or Joneses, but rather a Gen-Y plaything for Junior.

In order to attract young, fickle customers, Volvo has injected the C30 with shots of style and speed. While its front end closely resembles those of the S40 and V50 with which it shares Ford's C1 platform, its sloping rear end looks avant-garde, bearing a shape unique to modern Volvos.

Spare a little of time at their site. It's just excellent! In the "Cinema" section, you can actually download those ads to your Ipod, PSP, and your mobile phone. Wow! With their "What do you think?" line, Volvo rejoins this club of announcers who finally opened up their eyes on the whole word-of-mouth marketing craze these days, and put some more power in the hands the consumer. So to speak. And it's working! Proof is, I'm talking about it.

Besides, they has also launched an oddly creative mini-site that allows you to spec up your own C30 at the "Unbox Your C30" section, with exterior paint, interior colors and several wheels designs. It's a pretty slick interface, even if it has a few bugs, but overall the web geeks over at Volvo have done an stellar job.

Happy Left-Handers Day!
3:18 AM | 5 comments

Being left-handed, somehow makes me know what it's like to be a minority. As a left-hander, I'm discriminated against all the time. An experience of anti-lefty bias in the form of school desks that are unusable, novelty coffee mugs are made for a right handed pick-up, tools like scissors and saws that are dangerous or even life-threatening, pens that smear and make my writing illegible, computer mice that cause hand cramps.

I remember when I was a child, mommy and teacher in primary school tried to force me to write with my right hand. But I can't, I just can't change their so-called bad habit of writing with my left hand. I was born to be a left-hander, probably.

And you know what? Even language discriminates against the left-hander. People are saying something like "Am I in my right mind?", why ain't not something like "Am I in my left mind?". But the truth is, right handed people operate in the left side of the brain while left handed people use the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind. What a joke!

Anyway, left-handers certainly earned the right to have a day dedicated to as we are only 10% of the population. And August 13th is that day, the Left-Handers Day. It was first celebrated on August 13, 1976. This event is now celebrated worldwide, and in the U.K. alone there were over 20 regional events including left-v-right sports matches, a left-handed tea party, pubs using left-handed corkscrews where patrons drank and played pub games with the left hand only, and nationwide "Lefty Zones" where left-handers creativity, adaptability and sporting prowess were celebrated.

There is a saying of everyone was born right handed, and only the greatest overcome it. Let's see. There have been many famous left-handed people, and the associated right brain hemisphere that is said to be more active in left-handed people has been found in some circumstances to be associated with genius and is correlated with artistic and visual skill.

From political figures like George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Mahatma Gandhi to scientist or artists like Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. From sport legends like Mike Tyson, Diego Maradona and Pelé to businessmen like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Henry Ford.

So left-hander, be proud of yourself. You might become the next great man like those at above. Anyway, Happy Belated Left-Handers Day!

UNITE FOR CHILDREN, UNITE FOR AIDS
9:44 AM | 0 comments

"Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS is a global campaign launched by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), UNAIDS and other partners to promote world awareness of the AIDS pandemic and to spur action for the millions of children affected by HIV/AIDS. Fewer than 5% of HIV-positive children are receiving treatment.

The campaign provides a child-focused framework for country-level programs aiming to improve the lives of children affected by HIV/AIDS. It focuses on prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission and infection among adolescents and young people, provide paediatric treatment, and protect and support children affected by HIV/AIDS."

You know what? Kids in Zimbabwe die from starvation, kids from Ethiopia never been to school and kids from Iraq play with machine guns rather than toys. Look at them. Their eyes, their smiles and those innocent faces. What kind of life that they are facing? Stop yelling that you're miserable or complaining that you're unlucky. Never give up. It's just another day. Your day will come. Keep your head up and carry on with dignity. :)

Oh god! Am I talking like an eighty years old man? Well, I just wanna share the video below with you guys, but I don't know why I start with all those holy craps. Okay, it's like my cute little cousin was trying to help us brush the floor. He's so cute!

I Love My Country!
6:52 AM | 0 comments

Recently, this fellow is so hot. You can see his news almost every single day, on the tv, on the newspaper, on the mag and so on. And you know what? Even the news of September 11, 2001 didn't posted for such a long period at the time. So, what he did? He sang a song, simple as that.

Ok, I'm not gonna make any comment on him, and the other party as well. I just wanna share some morale values and points that I learned from the story. First, our government officers actually has great efficiency and speed on their works. Once the incident happened, the police's spokesman saying that they may send him to jail, and the immigration's spokesman saying that they will revoke his citizenship once government give the order. They are real fast! With these great efficiency men in the country, our life is safe, don't we?

Second, we learned to praise our country and never try to give an opinion of or judgement on a book no matter what. Imagine, even the Mississippi River bridge collapsed, our Kepong flyover is just slightly crack. We gotta thanks for the hard work from our brilliant Dato' Samy, aren't we? And I suppose one example is more than enough, I have no interest in writing an encyclopedia.

Third, we are able to see how unite are Malay and Chinese with the first person who criticize on the fellow is an Chinese, surprisingly. With most of the Chinese are standing at the center and look at the incident quietly, part of the Chinese are so eager to stand beside the Malay. And they did it in the shortest time. Sincerely, they are just trying to ensure that the country is peace and definitely not for their own benefits, doesn't it?

Lastly, the important of singing skill. Before the incident, I only know that if a person sings well, he might become a star or something like that by taking part in Malaysian Idols, Project Superstar and the others singing competition. I never know that sing badly may cause one to jail. So, make sure that you got a good voice or you never try to sing. Please, don't try this at the public.

Anyway, Happy 50th Birthday to Malaysia. I Love My Country, huh?

G.O.D.

Recently, I was browsing around the net and get to know a new Hong Kong brand, G.O.D.. If you think that there's any correlation between G.O.D. and god, you just get it wrongly. So, what's G.O.D. stand for? G.O.D. is actaully the phonetic sound of Cantonese slang "to live better" (住好的). It sounds pretty cool, doesn't it?

As for their concept, by exploring some age-old oriental traditions and updating them with modern consumers in mind, G.O.D. introducing to us an interesting combination of asian lifestyle and western way of living. And you can found an eclectic selection of housewares, apparel and accessories that is mixing traditional chinese design with modern elements.

For a concept store like G.O.D., i really appreciate and impressed by their idea and spirit of bringing oriental and local Hong Kong culture to the world stage. And the most important message that G.O.D. want the people from the urban city to know, to live better. Although I'm not a connoisseur in art, but with a new approach to re-improvised to another art from an non-aesthetic objects, I guess no one will not impressed by that.

First Blood!
9:49 PM | 1 comments

Yesterday, there was a big match. A match where I've try my best to preserve my energy by having a nap. A match where I've to push my old warrior to run slightly faster on the highway in the middle of the night to rush home earlier. A match... that was just a match. Enough of the crap. It's time for it. Chelsea versus Manchester United for the Community Shield. So, let's see how it goes.

Before the start of the game, they gotta show their manners by shaking each other's hand and asking each other's mom.
Sir Alex (right):"How are you, son-of-the-bitch?"
Mourinho (left):"Somehow better than your mother-fucker."

A game between two big team will definitely produce pretty much of sparks.
Shaun (front left):"Ah~ My ball! Referee! He push me!"
Rio (front center):"Get your hand of my face, Joe Joe!"
Joe Joe (front right):"I wanna slap you~ You already know~"

Goal~! Wright-Phillips failed to follow Patrice Evra's off-the-ball run after the Frenchman had laid off a short pass to Cristiano Ronaldo. Evra collected Ronaldo's through ball, raced to the byline, then cut a superb pass back which invited Giggs' clinical finish. Manyoo 1-0.
Ashley (2nd left):"Lemme head it clear!"
Cech (1st left):"Just forget 'bout it, Shorty!"

Goal~! Malouda had a fierce shot saved by Van der Sar before he did manage to find the net a minute before half time, showing impressive speed and strength to first beat Ferdinand, then resist the defender's illegal attempts to hold him back. What a wonderful goal. Thanks to Mr. Rio Ferdinand. Once again, proving himself is just a useless bum. 1-1.

VdS (left):"Sorry man."
Shaun (right):"AARRRHHHHHH~~~~~~ MY ****!!!"

VdS was the penalty shootout hero as Manchester United beat Chelsea 3-0 in the Community Shield by pulled off three successive saves, denying David Pizarro, Frank Lampard and Shaun Wright-Phillips.

In the end, we won it. It's just a wonderful night to me. Actually I don't care about the shield, it's just a steel plate after all. All I care is that we kill the fuck-ass Chelsea off before the start of a new season. That's it. The First Blood!

Sorry, We're Closed!

Malaysia is such a wonderful country. Why I'm saying so? It's because there is thousands of 'unique phenomena' that you won't be able to see it in other country. Don't ever ask me to list it out, seriously, just the title of phenomena without an elaboration is already enough to cause the book as thick as an encyclopedia. That's a recent one. You gotta check 'this' out.

10pm closing time for petrol station? Not one, but all, a total of 3,200 petrol stations in the country, including those along highways. Oh god! That's amazing. Reasons? Frequent armed robberies, increased security costs, higher wages for workers, low night sales, soaring rentals and electricity bills were cited as the key reasons for this decision. Well, most of the reasons is acceptable, but the problem is, why they wanna closed all of it? Even those along highways.

Well, these might be some undisclosed reason. Believe it? If you are moron. First, the government is trying to respond to calls of liveearth, by reducing the usage of petroleum. How it works? By closing the petrol station at night, the usage of petroleum will cut into a half as there's only day petrol station user. What a amazing calculation.

Second, they are just trying to increase the job opportunity. How it works? A simple way by just closing the petrol station at night. For sure there are some people who accidentally unable to memorize that their fuel level is touching the empty line, or they are thinking that the fuel is more than enough to reach his destination although the fuel level is going to touch the empty line, or they have the habit that refill only when the tank is real empty. So, when their car 'die fire' on the half way to their destination, they gotta seek for help. Here comes the job opportunity, tow-car company (Lame!), company that provide night shift petrol delivery service(Imagine the tiny pizza hut delivery bike with the logo of Petronas on it, Cool!), company who selling 'dark market' petrol at the night (A new business for 'Ah-Long', thanks to me!), and etc.

Third, as what they've said, decrease the robberies as the petrol station close at night. What about burglary? Ops! Never mind. No f**k! As for those 'night cat', when you find out that there's a suspicious car following you at the back, drive as fast as possible to a bright spot, such as petrol station. Ops! Sorry, the petrol station is closed! So what you can do? Never mind. Stay calm. Dial 999. The police will go and save you as soon as possible. Wait for them. And pray, god bless you.

Fourth, those related people can have a good rest at the night due to the decision, finally. Although some of them was not sleeping on the bed, but on their office desk. You get what I mean, don't you? So, these are some reason. There's a lot more, but I'm gonna stop at here. In case you don't fall asleep. As they said, the decision was likely to go into effect in two months, so hurry up and go to fuel in your car at night before the deadline, you won't be able to do so in the near future.
